Barton: The Bible Says Convicted Murderer Scott Peterson Should Not Have Received The Death Penalty

During his recent appearance(link is external) on "The Gospel Truth" with Andrew Wommack, Barton explained(link is external) that Scott Peterson(link is external), who was convicted of having murdered his wife and unborn child back in 2002, should not have received the death penalty because there were no eyewitnesses to the crime.

Citing Deuteronomy 17:6(link is external), which states that "on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death," Barton argued(link is external) that even though Peterson was guilty of murder, he should not have received a death sentence because there were not two or more witnesses to the crime as required by the Bible:
