E.W. Jackson: More Guns Needed In Schools

E.W. Jackson, the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor of Virginia, told a Republican forum(link is external) prior to his nomination that a plan to have armed guards in schools didn’t go far enough to prevent school shootings.

He said(link is external) that “every person who had a concealed carry permit and was trained to use a firearm” should be “allowed to bring that firearm to school,” adding that he believes it is a Second Amendment right to bring guns to schools.

Jackson has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association(link is external) and the Gun Owners of America(link is external), and earlier this year blamed(link is external) urban violence on young people “treating [their] bodies as sexual objects.”
