NOM Promotes Anal-Obsessed Patrick Wooden… Again

Once(link is external) again(link is external), the National Organization for Marriage is promoting(link is external) North Carolina pastor Patrick Wooden, who stars in a video(link is external) meant to drum up support for the state’s discriminatory Amendment One. The North Carolina Traditional Values Coalition includes Wooden and other Religious Right activists in the video urging people to vote for Amendment One, which would ban same-sex marriage and civil unions in the state constitution, and Wooden maintains that there is “no bigotry” against gays and lesbians in their efforts:

NOM likes to claim that they are(link is external) not(link is external) “anti-gay” but simply against “redefining marriage,” but they’re not fooling anybody when they use a spokesman who called anti-LGBT violence “normal(link is external)” and encouraged parents to beat their transgender child(link is external), blamed Oprah, Tyler Perry and the cast of Glee (link is external)for promoting “wicked” and “perverse” causes, said that Chaz Bono is controlled by demons(link is external) and claimed homosexuality is a “wicked, deviant, immoral, self-destructive, anti-human sexual behavior(link is external).”

And those are just his least notorious statements.

Wooden in an interview with Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality alleged that gay men ultimately “have to wear a diaper or a butt plug just to be able to contain their bowels(link is external)”:

In a second interview with LaBarbera, Wooden went on to describe how gay men have “literally died in diapers(link is external)” because of their inability to control their bowels as a result of shoving cellphones, baseball bats, and gerbils up their anuses, saying that he thanks God he is a human being so he is not put up a gay man’s rectum.

NOM should really stop pretending to be confused when critics call the group “anti-gay.”
