Donald Trump Taps Michele Bachmann, James Dobson & Other Far-Right Leaders For Advisory Board

Today, Donald Trump’s campaign announced (link is external) the formation of his Evangelical Executive Advisory Board, which includes right-wing figures ranging from ex-Rep. Michele Bachmann to Focus on the Family founder James Dobson.

After retiring from Congress on the heels of a campaign scandal(link is external), Bachmann has not let up in her radical preaching.

According to Bachmann, the September 11 attacks represented God’s judgment on America(link is external); President Obama(link is external) and gay rights advocates(link is external) are bringing(link is external) about(link is external) the End Times(link is external); homosexuality is “personal enslavement” and “part of Satan”(link is external); gay people want to change laws “so that adults will be able to freely prey on little children sexually(link is external)”; and Obamacare death panels(link is external) will literally kill people(link is external) any day now.

Texas-based televangelist Kenneth Copeland is also on the advisory board even though Ctrl+Click or tap to follow the link"> God told him that Ted Cruz would be the next president(link is external). Like Trump, Copeland has been implicated in financial(link is external) scandals(link is external) and preaches against vaccines(link is external), which may have been a reason that one of his churches suffered a measles outbreak(link is external).

Copeland also claims the ability to cure PTSD(link is external) and Ebola(link is external).

Dobson, who once said that he could not support Trump(link is external), has a long history with the anti-LGBT Right, warning that gay marriage will lead to a second civil war(link is external) and pastors going to prison(link is external), as well as ushering in the destruction of religious freedom(link is external), God’s judgment on America (link is external) and the transformation of the U.S. into Nazi Germany(link is external). He even linked(link is external) same-sex marriage to the Sandy Hook shooting.

Other board members include Richard Land, who claims gay people(link is external) are(link is external) satanic(link is external) and once lost a radio show after making racist, plagiarized statements(link is external), and Harry Jackson, a Maryland pastor who preaches about gay people trying to recruit children(link is external) and prays against the demons behind same-sex marriage(link is external):

The group also include Southern Baptist pastor Ronnie Floyd, who has written about how “Satan has taken his tool of homosexuality(link is external), a gross and evil sin, and done a con job on the American culture.”

Also on the list is Robert Jeffress, who(link is external)believes(link is external) that gays and lesbians are ‘perverse’ people who are either pedophiles or likely to abuse children in the future(link is external); has compared homosexuality to bestiality(link is external) and called it ‘a miserable lifestyle(link is external)’; accused gay people of using ‘brainwashing techniques(link is external)’ to have homosexuality ‘crammed down our throats(link is external)’; said that gay people ‘are engaged in the most detestable, unclean, abominable acts you can imagine(link is external)’; predicted that the gay rights movement ‘will pave the way for that future world dictator, the Antichrist(link is external)’; and labeled homosexuality a ‘filthy practice(link is external)’ that will lead to the ‘implosion of our country(link is external).’”

Televangelist James Robison is another member:

And yet it was just the other day that Donald Trump was fashioning himself as a champion of the LGBT community(link is external).
