Last week, televangelist Jim Bakker invited pastor Ramiro Peña of Christ the King Baptist Church of Waco, Texas, onto his program to discuss the upcoming presidential election.
Peña has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump: He is a member of the National Hispanic Advisory Council for Trump and prayed at an event for Hispanic conservatives at the Republican National Convention and at a meeting between Trump and Hispanic leaders.
After Bakker claimed that Trump will rebuild America’s infrastructure, noting that “Jesus was a builder,” Peña declared that God “is raising up spiritual leaders across the land.”
“I believe the Lord is raising up one such as Mr. Trump to lead,” he said, “to give leadership to the nation and make America a leader again.”
Bakker, for his part, has repeatedly praised Trump and has promoted a prophetic message that God will put Trump in the White House.
