'Only Christians Should Hold Public Office': John Guandolo Says Muslim Congresswomen 'Cannot Serve' in Congress

John Guandolo, the disgraced(link is external) former FBI agent and right-wing conspiracy theorist(link is external) who now trains(link is external) law enforcement agencies(link is external) around the country(link is external) to identify seemingly anyone(link is external) with dark skin and a beard(link is external) as an Islamic terrorist, appeared on "The Glazov Gang" program last week(link is external), where he declared that two Muslim women who were elected to Congress should be banned from serving because, he absurdly(link is external) claimed, only Christians can serve in Congress.

In the recent midterm elections, Democrats Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota became the first Muslim women elected to Congress(link is external), but Guandolo is declaring that as "sharia-adherent women," they are unable to uphold the U.S. Constitution and therefore must not be allowed to take office.

"These are people who are now, I would argue, legally they cannot serve in these positions," Guandolo said. "You cannot have somebody who is adherent to sharia serving in public office. The founders, by the way, were very clear that only Christians should hold public office, so let's just put that out there."
